WHAT TO EXPECT WHEN YOU VISIT FOOTHILLS

What is the church like?

Foothills is located just south of historic downtown Issaquah in a valley between lovely hills. Our facility is a two level building. There is a playground outside for children and a patio for fellowship. We have a large gravel parking lot with a side entrance to the lower level and a front entrance to a mid-level foyer. Our worship center is upstairs and easy to find. Rooms for children’s programming are located downstairs. There are friendly greeters in the foyer area who are eager to assist you in any way.

What will the service be like?

Our worship service typically has a hundred or more in attendance and has people from various ethnic backgrounds and ages present. There are singles, families with young children, teens and senior adults. Typically, a service runs about an hour and fifteen minutes. We begin with singing. Our music is “blended” in that it includes mostly contemporary praise songs and some more traditional hymns accompanied by piano, guitar, bass guitar and drums. We are somewhat informal and relaxed in the style of our service, with no liturgy. The second half of the service is a Bible-based message from our pastor. After the service we have refreshments downstairs. Guests often stay for a few minutes, enjoying a relaxed and informal time to meet and visit with people.

Will I be asked to do anything?

People are invited early in the service to greet those around them but our guests are not singled out in any way. We invite our guests to complete a Welcome Card and place it in the offering but this is voluntary. We do not expect our guests to contribute to the offering.

What should I wear?

As is characteristic with this area, we are rather informal and do not dress up much. Wear what you feel comfortable wearing when out and about. We are more of a “come as you are” church.

What is there for my children?

We love children and have quality children’s programs. During the worship service we have a nursery for children birth up to age two. Wee Worship is for children ages two up to four. Just prior to the message time we invite children ages four through fourth grade to go to Children’s Church downstairs for a more age-appropriate Bible lesson. All of these programs are staffed by caring adults. Children of all ages are also welcome to remain with their parents for the entire time if so desired. The last Sunday of each month is “family worship day,” where the older age children participate in the entire worship service.

What other activities are there?

We have Bible study classes for all ages from birth upwards each Sunday at 9:30 AM. There are three adult classes to choose from among them. We regularly have weekday women’s Bible study classes. There are actives for men, youth and families throughout the year. We have prayer gatherings on a weekly and monthly basis.
